Wapello topples Danville-New London in boys soccer for third win

Daniel Perez scored six goals and Adin Muff added a goal and an assist to lead the Wapello High School boys soccer team to a 7-4 win over Danville-New London in an SEI Superconference match Tuesday at the Carl "Mac" McGill Athletic Complex in Wapello.

Kasey Grimm and Robert Vasquez also had assists for the Indians, while Kaleb Grimm had 17 saves.

Wapello (3-12) plays Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union in a quarterfinal match of the SEI Superconference Tournament at 5 p.m. Friday at Mediapolis.

DAVENPORT CENTRAL 6, BURLINGTON 0: Sheltyn Anderson made 18 saves, but the Grayhounds dropped a home match at Bracewell Stadium.

GIRLS SOCCER

CENTRAL LEE 6, KEOKUK 1: Addy Brumble scored three goals and had one assist to lead the Lady Hawks to a home victory over the Chiefs.

Aubree Boyd, Ellie Lake and Halle Lampe also had goals for the Lady Hawks. Boyd and Makayla Morrison added assists. Bailey Schwartz had seven saves for the Lady Hawks.

Brianna Maerz scored Keokuk's goal.

PREP SOFTBALL

WEST HANCOCK 6, RUSHVILLE-INDUSTRY 2: Kendall Nagel went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple to lead the Titans to a victory over the Rockets at Warsaw, Illinois.

Jenna Ferguson went 2-for-3 for the Titans, while Lillie Woodworth and Jordyn Climer each drove in a pair of runs.

Nagel picked up the win, striking out seven and walking none and allowing just one earned run.

PREP TRACK AND FIELD

CHARGERS RUN AT CENTRAL: The Illini West boys and girls track teams competed at Camp Point, Illinois.

For the boys, the relay team of Ethan James, Jerick LeMaire, Peyton Brown and Max Dittmer won the 4x100 in 44.23 and the 4x200 in 1:35.89. The 4x400 team of Trayton Anders, LaMaire, Cole Kirkham and Matt McDowell won in 3:40.47, while the 4x800 team of Anders, Nick Manzo, Kirkham and McDowell took second in 8:59.98.

Kirkham took second in the 800 in 2:17.60 and Tanner Freeman was second in the shot put at 11.55 meters. Nolan Deitrich was second in the high jump at 1.78 meters and Drake Mudd was third in the long jump at 5.87 meters.

For the girls, Abbie Johnson won the discus with a toss of 26.84 meters and the shot put with a throw of 9.09 meters. Yoanny Espinoza won the triple jump at 10.18 meters and was second in the long jump at 4.25.
