In wake of Wappingers Falls explosion, village rallies to support injured families

On Friday, the early November sun shined down on all that remained of the row of homes where multiple families lived: a pile of rubble.

Gone are all the basic necessities, as well as the family photos, the kids' football uniforms and the toys. In their place are discarded bricks and shards of metal surrounded by yellow caution tape.

When will power be restored

In the wake of the explosion and building collapse, nearby roads were closed and gas and electric services was cut to the surrounding area as crews continued to work at the scene.

Central Hudson said electric service was restored to all properties Thursday night.

Gas service to nearby properties was restored Friday morning, but the two buildings directly next to the scene were still without service Friday afternoon.
