Wareham's magical season ends with loss to Hamilton-Wenham in Div. 4 state final
Following a 4-1 loss to top-seeded Hamilton-Wenham in the Div. 4 state final on Saturday afternoon at MIT, the No. 2 Wareham Vikings were all smiles as they celebrated the best year in the history of the girls tennis program.
Not only did the Vikings (25-1) finish the regular season undefeated for their second-straight South Coast Conference championship, they earned their first-ever trip to a state final with Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Manchester-Essex.
Against Hamilton-Wenham, Wareham sophomore Brooklyn Bindas had the Vikings’ lone win, beating Sky Jara 6-0, 6-1 at first singles to finish the year a perfect 24-0.

The first doubles team of Mackenzie Brodley and Olivia Powers suffered their first career loss together (24-1), losing to Nora Gamber and Brynn McKechnie 6-0, 7-6 (7-2).
Wareham’s second doubles team of Allison Sciaraffa and Fredi Gakidis lost to Lily Cassidy and Lisette Leonard 6-0, 6-0.
In singles action, Saige Galhardo came up short against Naomi Provost 7-5, 6-1 while Giuliana L'Homme lost to Chloe Gern 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 at No. 3.
