Warren County celebrates Memorial Day with parades and flags

Warren County residents are invited to the Warren County Veterans Memorial in Norwalk to celebrate and honor veterans and Memorial Day.

"The site itself is really beautiful," Mike Foss said about the Warren County Veterans Memorial. "Right there on hole number nine on the Warrior Run Golf Course."

The memorial features benches naming five of the federal military branches: Navy, Army, Marines, Coast Guard and Air Force. Foss said he hopes to expand the memorial to include the Space Force services and the National Guard.

Warren County Supervisor Crystal McIntyre, a U.S. Army veteran, spoke at the Warren County Veterans Memorial Dedication Aug. 29, 2019.

Foss has led county-wide fundraising in the past four years resulting in the $60,000 investment into the memorial where the county's Freedom Rock is located. Included with the memorial are 102 stone pavers bearing the names of Warren County veterans. The pavers, costing $75 each, are still for sale. Foss said he expects to have more pavers in place for the Veterans Day ceremonies in November.
