‘Warrior Nun’ Is Returning For Third Season Thanks To Fan Campaign

Warrior Nun fans, you did it! The formerly canceled show is returning for a third season. Creator Simon Barry shared the exciting and unbelievable news on Twitter yesterday. “Today I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion, and amazing efforts - #WarriorNun will return and is going to be more EPIC than you could imagine. More details to come! SOON! Thank you!!” wrote Barry.

Last December, news broke that the popular Sapphic fantasy series had received the ax and fans were infuriated. Immediately, a #SaveWarriorNun campaign kicked off hoping to catch the eye of Netflix execs who, in seeing the passionate fan base, would change their minds.
Unlike many other similar calls for renewals, the Warrior Nun fans didn’t give up hope and continued to push for renewal, with viral petitions, billboards, and even a short documentary showing how passionate the fan base remained.
It seems that Netflix may have heard their calls.
For those unfamiliar with the series, it focuses on a young woman named Ava (Alba Baptista) who, after waking up in a morgue, learns she now is in possession of “The Halo”, which gives her the power of resurrection. As the chosen “Halo Barer”, she is recruited into a secret sect of demon-fighting warrior nuns. Throughout the show’s two seasons, it also featured a beautiful Sapphic love story between Ava and one of her fellow nuns, Beatrice (Kristina Tonteri-Young). The show ended on a cliffhanger leaving fans beyond frustrated. Now they will finally get answers as to what happens next for “Avatrice”.
When the news broke that the show had been uncancelled and that #SaveTheWarriorNun had indeed done just that, fans were beside themselves and celebrating on Twitter.
