Warwick voters approve field, track and other improvements at schools
WARWICK - Voters approved a $13.8 million capital improvement referendum for upgrades at four Warwick school properties on Dec. 2, according to a preliminary vote count of 897 to 295.
That represents an approval rating of just over 75%, which "is one of the highest approval ratings on record for a capital project," noted Superintendent Dr. David Leach in a press release from the school district.
The proposal will have no additional tax impact for district residents, as it will use existing capital reserves and state building aid.

The projects include an expanded multi-sport natural grass athletic field and a new track at the high school, replacement of ventilators at the middle school, a new roof for Sanfordville Elementary School and windows for the Park Avenue elementary school.
Voters also approved a second proposition, by a vote of 908-277 (76.62% approval), which created a new $10 million capital reserve fund for future spending on capital projects, with voter approval. This will replace the existing capital reserve fund, which will be depleted once the 2021 capital project is paid for.
