Washington continues to plummet in USA TODAY’s NFL power rankings

The Washington Football Team entered Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs expected to lose. After dropping a Week 5 game at home to the New Orleans Saints, Washington needed a miracle against the Chiefs to even its record at 3-3.

That miracle almost happened in the first half when Kansas City turned the ball over three times. However, Washington could only convert those turnovers into seven points and limped into halftime with a narrow 13-10 lead.

In the second half, the Chiefs caught fire, scoring 21 unanswered points and giving Washington its third loss in four games.

In the latest version of the USA TODAY NFL power rankings, Washington falls three more spots to No. 25. Here’s what Nate Davis said about Washington:

Rough start for defending NFC East champs and now this – they’ve only got four more home games in the season’s final 12 weeks.

Washington is in the middle of a brutal stretch that includes a trip to Green Bay this week and Denver in Week 8. After a week off, Washington hosts the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Washington is ranked one spot behind the Eagles, who are No. 24. The Giants are ranked No. 30.
