Highlights of Washington Township trustees’ meeting of Oct. 2:
Department reports
Park – The bee problem in Pavilion #1 is fixed, and employees have been mowing and doing maintenance around park.
Zoning – Working on three complaints, and issued a permit. Board of Zoning Appeals plans Oct. 24 hearing for a variance. Trustees approved motion to file a trash and car complaint, and cleanup order, for residents of property in 3100 block of Ridgehill.
Fire – As of meeting date, department has recorded 382 for the year. Trustees approved a motion to spend $586.50 so Vasu communications can reprogram 17 radios. Fire Department was to help Oct. 6 with the first grade at Washington School and also at the high school for Community Day. State burn ban is in effect for October and November from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
Road – Trimmed trees on Oswalt and Cenfield, installed pipe on Oswalt, sign work on Rummell and steam cleaned the backhoe and loader. Trustees approved a motion to spend $1,000 to Scotts to service the two road trucks.
Other action
Comments from visitors included Janet Moser from Washington Township Historical Society reporting the annual soup supper will run 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at Salem Community Church on Beechwood Avenue.
Bills were then paid totaling $30,181.20 after a motion by Boyce and second by Wallace. Old business was the Fiscal Officer passing out the new township credit cards to the different departments.
UPCOMING – Trustees next will meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at Township Hall.
