Pac-12 football Week 5 picks, predictions, odds:

Sportsnaut: Washington 34, UCLA 24

Matt Johnson writes: "It’s not as if the Bruins enter this matchup with an impressive resume. Victories over Bowling Green, Alabama State, South Alabama and Colorado haven’t really proven much. Defensively, UCLA is still allowing a 111.4 quarterback rating to opponents. This is a prime opportunity for Michael Penix Jr (1,388 passing yards, 12-1 TD-INT ratio) to further establish the Huskies’ offense. Combine that with Washington’s ability to stop the run (2.6 ypc) allowed and it all suggests a potential double-digit victory."

Fansided: Go with UCLA with the points vs. Washington

Reed Wallach writes: "With the help of running back Zach Charbonnet, the Bruins offense will be the toughest test for the Huskies in their first road game of the season. While I've been incredible impressed with Washington thus far, the team is +5 in turnover margin, tied for the 13th highest mark in the country and hasn't left Seattle yet this season. The total is high, and rightfully so, but I like DTR to keep the Bruins in this one at over a field goal, especially with a late cover possible. It's worth noting that DeBoer's Fresno State Bulldogs went to UCLA and beat them in one of the craziest games of the year last season. While the Bulldogs got the win, DeBoer is well aware of the talented Bruins QB, who combined for over 300 yards and three touchdowns."

Betsperts: UCLA will win the Pac-12 game against Washington

Matt Rooney writes: "Our prediction to win this matchup is UCLA, and we expect that UCLA will cover the spread (Washington -3.5). Finally, we see the scoring in this one going under the posted total of 65.5 points."

Odds Shark: UCLA 35.6, Washington 28

The site predicts that the  Bruins will win the game against the Huskies and that the total will go under.

FanDuel: Take UCLA with the points against Washington

It writes: "While still undefeated, unranked UCLA is not getting much media hype. The next three games will determine where the Bruins sit in the Pac-12 pecking order, and this should be a competitive contest. UCLA's defense has allowed just 290 yards per game vs. FBS opponents, which is 70 yards per game better than Washington's defense this season. The Bruins also have a strong, balanced offense averaging 221 rushing and 295 passing yards per game vs FBS opponents. As such, UCLA is clearly capable of winning and pulling off the minor upset."

Odds Checker: Take Washington to cover against UCLA

Matt MacKay writes: "UCLA and Washington have split their last two matchups. UCLA won 24-17 at Husky Stadium in 2021, while Washington won 31-24 at Los Angeles in 2018. This was early during Kelly's tenure when the Bruins were surrendering over 34 points per game to opponents while averaging under 25 points per game on offense. The Bruins took care of business against Colorado on the road last week but had to rely on a walk-off field goal to beat South Alabama at home in Week 3. In comparison, the Huskies just discarded Stanford 40-22 after jumping out to a 30-7 lead in the third quarter. This game could come down to the wire, but I believe Penix and the Huskies have enough firepower to outlast the Bruins. Since Kelly is 1-2 at home against the spread this season, give me Washington and the points at -2.5."

Doc's Sports: Washington will cover in Pac-12 game vs. UCLA

Guy Bruhn writes: "UCLA has yielded a total of 337 yards via the ground game (84.3 yards/game) and 4 touchdowns by way of the ground game this year. They have conceded 4 touchdowns through the air as well as 210.8 yards/outing, which has them sitting 53rd in D-1. The Bruins defense has been on the field for 275 plays, which is good for 73rd in Division 1. The Bruins are giving up 18.0 points per game, which has them ranked 29th in the country. Over the course of the season, they have surrendered 72 pts."

ESPN: Washington has an 54.5% chance to win the game

The site's Football Power Index gives UCLA a 45.5% chance to win the Week 5 college football game in Palo Alto, Calif.
