Washington's Snoqualmie Pass Buried in Snow After Storm Hits Pacific Northwest

Washington’s Snoqualmie Pass was closed to traffic on Tuesday, February 12, after a reported four feet of snow left Interstate 90 impassable east of North Bend, according to the state’s department of transportation.

Video posted to the Washington Department of Transportation’s Youtube channel shows walls of snow along Interstate 90 near the summit of the pass after 53 inches fell in the area in a period of 48 hours.

The pass remained closed on Tuesday due to high avalanche danger and poor visibility, officials said. On Wednesday, the National Weather Service indicated conditions were expected to improve as temperatures rise into the weekend. Credit: WSDOT via Storyful
