Alabama softball will get its first major test of the season at the Clearwater Invitational where it will face four teams ranked inside the top 20 of the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Poll.
The No. 12 Crimson Tide (2-1) gets the tournament started against No. 19 Duke (3-2) on Thursday. It is the first meeting between the two schools since the Blue Devils founded their program in 2018. Alabama will face off against No. 2 UCLA (6-0) on Friday. It is the first time the schools will meet since Montana Fouts threw a perfect game in the 2021 Women's College World Series versus the Bruins.
The Crimson Tide will play a doubleheader on Saturday versus No. 20 UCF (3-1) and Indiana (3-1). It is Alabama's first matchup with the Hoosiers since 1999 while the Crimson Tide hold a 5-2 record over the Knights. Alabama finishes the Invitational by playing No. 7 Florida State (4-1), who they last played in the 2021 WCWS semifinals.
The Crimson Tide opened the season with a 7-4 loss to Lehigh before winning back-to-back games over Georgia Southern. Alabama welcomed eight newcomers, including five freshmen, to go along with 13 returnees, including All-SEC preseason honorees Montana Fouts and Ally Shipman.
