When it comes to hot hatchbacks, the United States usually misses out. The very best hot hatches on earth are almost always Europe-only affairs, and nowadays, it's no different. But just because we don't get these cars Stateside doesn't mean we don't care how quick they are.

UK YouTube channel Carwow brought together five of the best hot hatches on sale locally right now for a quarter-mile drag race on a runway. The cars, from closest to furthest on screen, are the Toyota Yaris GRMN, the Ford Fiesta ST, the Volkswagen Polo GTI, the Peugeot 208 GTI, and the Mini Cooper John Cooper Works (the only car out of the bunch you can buy in the US).

Carwow does both a standing race and a roll race to determine which car is quickest. Thanks to the Toyota's 212-horsepower supercharged engine, it takes the win on the standing race (though it also had the best launch), while the Mini, being the most powerful, takes the win during the roll race. Watch for yourself to see the whole thing unfold.
