WATCH: Celtics center Daniel Theis scores 23 off the bench vs. 76ers

While he hasn’t come off the bench much in recent years for the Boston Celtics, center Daniel Theis had another outstanding game as a reserve against the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday evening.

The German big man put up 23 points and 10 rebounds with a nearly perfect game in terms of efficiency. Theis hit 10-of-11 from the field, nailed his sole 3-point attempt and both of his shots from the charity stripe in 27 minutes of floor time. And while the “War on Theis” continued with the Salzgitter native racking up 5 personal fouls, he only turned the ball over twice in one of his best games of the 2020-21 season to date.

It wasn’t enough to secure the win with Joel Embiid getting to the line with ease — “hard to win like that,” noted teammate Marcus Smart postgame — but given the absence of Jayson Tatum and Robert Williams III along with Kemba Walker’s minutes restriction, it still bodes well for the future.
