WATCH: Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire mic’d up during training camp

Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire was mic’d up at training camp, seemingly before the pads came on. He might be afraid that all we’ll hear is his breathing, but he actually revealed some enjoyable moments.

“I got that mic on,” Edwards-Helaire said.

“Tell them I said, ‘What’s up,’ Travis Kelce replied.

Later, he’d talk with fellow running back, Elijah McGuire, about his dinner choice. It sure was a relatable one for Kansas Citians.

“I barbecued yesterday, again,” Edwards-Helaire said. “You could grab that bone and twist that bad boy and pull it out of there.”

We got to see Edwards-Helaire work with the special teams unit, catching some booming kicks, including one that seemed to go further than he anticipated.

He goes through some work during individual drills, including bag drills and pass protection drills. He took handoffs and caught passes from Jordan Ta’amu, who also looked sharp. There’s a nice moment between veteran FB Anthony Sherman and Edwards-Helaire, where Sherman praises RB coach Deland McCullough.

There’s only a little work that happens between Patrick Mahomes and Edwards-Helaire, but it’s the perfect tease to keep you going until the season begins.
