Watch the Coast Guard's daring beach rescue of an injured German Shepherd

A German shepherd is reported to be in good health after the US Coast Guard saved the dog in a dramatic rescue operation at Oregon's Ecola State Park.

The animal had tumbled a staggering 300 feet down a cliff and landed on an inaccessible beach, according to the Coast Guard. As the German shepherd desperately struggled to find higher ground, waves pounded against the rocky shore.

A crew member was lowered from a helicopter, maneuvering skillfully to reach the stranded canine. After reuniting with its owner, the dog took an emergency trip to the vet and is doing fine.
