From Men's Health

  • Star Wars' Daisy Ridley read a children's book about BB-8 for kids in quarantine.

  • The actress also thanked medical professionals working on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic.

  • The reading was filmed and posted to the movie franchise's Twitter account this week.

Even when the world is on lockdown, the Star Wars franchise found a way to provide some wholesome content for its fans. This week, actress Daisy Ridley (a.k.a Rey) read a Star Wars book in a video posted to the franchise's Twitter account to thank those in quarantine, as well as healthcare workers.

“Please accept my tiny offering of gratitude in the form of storytelling," she wrote in a caption accompanying the video. The actress read the children's book, BB-8 On the Run, which takes place in the same timeframe as The Force Awakens (the first film in which Ridley appears in). The story itself follows BB-8 as he's separated from Poe Dameron and must obtain a map for the Resistance.

Ridley is one of several celebrities who've thanked healthcare workers in recent weeks. Earlier this month, TV doctors and nurses thanked their real-life counterparts in a video to help raise donations for first responders.

In related Star Wars news, Ridley recently addressed some of the backlash against The Rise of Skywalker (which currently holds a 52% on Rotten Tomatoes).

"It was weird, I felt like all of this love that we’d sort of been shown the first time around, I was like, ‘Where’s the love gone?’" she told DragCast of the waning positive reactions to the franchise's films. "... I’d see headlines and be like, ‘Oh my god this is so upsetting.' So it’s been tricky, but then it’s having that thing of I feel really proud of it and I’m so thrilled to be part of it."
