Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Pop a 'Dust Bunny' Out of an Armpit Cyst
In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper pops a cyst buried in a patient’s armpit.
The cyst's contents are gray-hued like a little dust bunny, which Dr. Lee says is because of the melanin content in the patient's skin.
The cyst is likely an epidermoid cyst, which contains a collection of wet dead skin cells and keratin.
Getting a cyst is really the pits — in this case, literally. In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—pops a cyst buried in a patient’s armpit. And the result of the removal is a little dust bunny-like growth.
In the clip, Dr. Lee first makes an incision across the length of the cyst. The famed derm then squeezes the growth, releasing a chunky bunch of gray-hued cyst contents. The collection looks oddly like a dust bunny you may find under your couch given its coloring and texture.
The cyst buried in the patient’s armpit is likely an epidermoid cyst, which contains a collection of wet dead skin cells and keratin. As Dr. Lee tells the patient in the clip, these cyst contents are most often white, but can be darker in color depending on the melanin content in a person’s skin. In this case, that’s why the dust bunny-like cyst has a gray coloring. Epidermoid cysts like this one often occur on the face, neck and body.
