  • In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper pops a cyst with the darkest contents you’ve ever seen.

  • The cyst is likely an epidermoid cyst, which contains a collection of wet dead skin cells and keratin.

  • Epidermoid cysts most often have white contents, but the contents can be darker in color depending on the melanin content in a person’s skin.

In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—pops a cyst with the darkest contents you’ve ever seen. So dark, in fact, that the goop inside looks like the creamiest chocolate mousse.

In the clip, Dr. Lee makes an incision into the sizable cyst and squeezes the growth with her fingers. What comes out is truly bonkers. It’s dark brown, thick and weirdly creamy. And the cyst sac Dr. Lee pulls out is even creepier.

“Was that a cyst or a really bad blackhead?” one fan commented on the video. “Holy moly, it looked like something out of the ocean!”

The cyst is likely an epidermoid cyst, which contains a collection of wet dead skin cells and keratin. These cysts most often have white contents, but the contents can be darker in color depending on the melanin content in a person’s skin. Interestingly, it appears this patient has a lighter skin tone, though her cyst’s coloring is quite dark. Epidermoid cysts like this one often occur on the face, neck and body.
