What to Watch Friday: A clever finale from ‘Blacklist’ and a crazy crime on ’20/20’

The Blacklist (8 p.m., NBC) - Well, this is very cool. The James Spader-led NBC drama uses animation to fill in the gaps in its Season 7 finale after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down production in mid-March. The experimental episode will jump between live actors and a graphic-novel-style video throughout the episode.

20/20: Down Payment on Death (9 p.m., ABC) - 20/20’s report on the Dalia Dippolito case reveals what happens with reality TV and hidden cameras converge with a real-life murder-for-hire plot. Dippolito, currently in prison for solicitation for murder, was recorded by authorities in southern Florida trying to hire a hitman to kill her husband. With cameras from police and the TV show “Cops” rolling, police staged a murder scene and made it look like the plot worked, catching Dippolito’s reaction to what she believed to be her husband’s murder. This two-hour show details her appeal attempts and why it took three trials to convict her. The program also includes a new interview with Dippolito’s current attorney, who reveals what her life is like as a mother in prison.

Bravery and Hope: 7 Days on the Front Line (9 p.m., CBS) - In this CBS News special, emergency physicians and critical care specialists struggle to save patients suffering from COVID-19 at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, the largest hospital in the hardest-hit borough of New York.
