Dateline NBC (9 p.m., NBC) - NBC News’ Craig Melvin gets an exclusive interview with the family members of the housekeeper at the center of one aspect of South Carolina’s Murdaugh Family drama. Gloria Satterfield, the longtime housekeeper of the prominent South Carolina family, died from a reported fall at the Murdaugh home in 2018. Her employer, attorney Alex Murdaugh, told the her family that they should file a wrongful death claim against him so that his insurance company would pay out. Murdaugh, who has since been swept up in a tornado of other tragedies and scandals, never gave the family the money, and was recently charged in the misappropriation of those funds. Separate from the Satterfield saga, correspondent Craig Melvin reports on the murders of Alex Murdaugh’s wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, earlier this summer. Melvin also talks to Curtis “Eddie” Smith, the man accused of shooting Alex Murdaugh in September in an insurance scheme. Smith denies all charges. But wait, there’s more. There’s also the mysterious death of Stephen Smith in 2015, a death some in Hampton County, SC, believe may also have ties to the Murdaugh family. Police there have said they will reexamine the circumstances of Smith’s death. Melvin talks to Smith’s mother and twin sister, their first interviews on network television.

Kristin Smart update: In addition to the Murdaugh reports, “Dateline” will also review developments in the disappearance of California Polytechnic State University freshman Kristin Smart, who vanished after leaving a party in 1996. In network TV exclusive interviews, Kristin’s brother and a former student who was at the party Smart attended will speak with Josh Mankiewicz. Mankiewicz also interviews insiders close to the case, including “Your Own Backyard” podcast host Chris Lambert and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson.
