Watch Georgia football return blocked field goal for TD vs. stunned LSU in SEC Championship Game

LSU football's offense started well in the first quarter of the SEC Championship Game against Georgia on Saturday, and then the special teams made two major errors on the same play.

Damian Ramos' 32-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Georgia's Nazir Stackhouse after a high snap. The ball rolled toward the Georgia 5-yard line, and hadn't quite stopped moving when UGA's Christopher Smith picked the ball up. LSU's field goal team assumed the ball was going to be dead, or at least not returned.

Instead, Smith picked up the live ball and sprinted 95 yards uncontested the other way for a Bulldogs touchdown.

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for LSU's field goal unit, which has been OK since the Week 1 series of mistakes in the Florida State loss.

Ramos had missed two field goals and one extra point in the 11 games following the opening-night issues from the entirety of the unit.

LSU's offense bailed the field goal unit out on the next drive, with Kayshon Boutte scoring on a 53-yard touchdown catch with quite a bit of yards after the catch.
