MANHATTAN (KSNT) – For die-hard football fans, the experience of the sport doesn’t end when the game is over.

The most loyal fans often know not only about the players on their team’s current roster, but potential players in the high school ranks. Ryan Wallace with GoPowercat and 247 Sports keeps K-State football supporters in the loop about all things recruiting.

Wallace says when K-State head coach Chris Klieman took over the program, his goal was to get stronger and longer prospects.

“They’re getting a different level of athlete when it comes to strength or overall speed,” Wallace said. “We saw a little bit of that from Coach Snyder, but it’s definitely ramped up with Coach Klieman.”

Outside of the gameplan, coaches have to focus on a lot of off-the-field work in the current college football landscape, including the navigation of NIL (name, image and likeness), recruiting, media appearances and more. Wallace says that because of this, there may be a max exodus of college coaches to the next level.

“Anytime you get that that invitation from the NFL, I think anybody is going to take it,” Wallace said. “You just do not get to sleep as a head coach in college anymore….There’s just so much that goes into it now that when you think of recruiting, bringing your own guys, NIL and talking more to those collectives, it can really make your head spin.”

Wallace also discusses the importance of recruiting locally, the power of walk-ons and more.
