UPDATE: The University of Iowa has announced the watch party at Carver-Hawkeye Arena has been canceled because of a forecast of severe weather in Iowa City on Friday.

Join thousands of fans in the Carver-Hawkeye Arena to watch Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team face off against No. 1 seeded South Carolina in the Final Four in Dallas on Friday.

The arena is hosting a free watch party for this momentous game as the Iowa women’s basketball team made the Final Four for the first time in 30 years. Doors open an hour before the game at 7:30 p.m. and there will be free parking in all surrounding Carver-Hawkeye Arena lots.

If you’re looking to grab some food in downtown Iowa City before the watch party, check out these seven restaurants with good food. If you’re traveling more than 800 miles to Dallas for the game, here are some places you’ll want to visit and catch a bite at in the Big D.

For the folks staying local, it’s best to start scoping out where you’ll find a seat at Iowa City area bars and restaurants. Here’s five spots to help ease your search.

2 Dogs Pub

This east side Iowa City bar, located at 1705 S. First Ave., serves classic burgers to ones a bit more unique like the PB&J burger to the taco burger. That’s in addition to a large menu with fish sandwiches, a pork tenderloin sandwich, and macaroni and cheese.

ReUnion Brewery in Iowa City, 113 E. College St., and Coralville, 516 Second St., has plenty of screens and seats for game time at both locations. The Iowa City location is a great spot for folks looking to escape the typical bar food with a menu that includes Cajun boudin balls, shrimp and grits, fried chicken and a Cuban sandwich.

Iowa Athletic Club

This Iowa River Landing sports bar at 200 E. Ninth St. Suite 205 is dedicated to providing the best sports bar experience. Dig into appetizers like loaded nachos or Buffalo chicken dip, or grab a burger or a personal pizza. While you’re at it, order the wings. Iowa Athletic Club is hosting its own March Madness to determine which new sauce will make the menu, and you can help by trying and voting.

Reds Alehouse

It’s worth stopping by the North Liberty restaurant, 405 N. Dubuque St., to see if the projector screen is out for the big game. Reds Alehouse has 28 beers on tap and serves burgers, flatbreads — including the new dessert flatbread Oreo fluff — cheese curds and so much more.
