Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow threw his second touchdown of the first half of Saturday's 26-19 playoff win against the Raiders at Paul Brown Stadium to receiver Tyler Boyd to give the Bengals a 20-6 lead.
Burrow let go of the 10-yard TD pass late in the second quarter just before stepping out of bounds.
On social media, some suggested that an erroneous whistle an official may have blown should have ended the play and negated Boyd's catch.
Burrow and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor both smiled as they told reporters after the game that they did not hear a whistle.

The Bengals have taken a 20-6 lead, and this is the loudest PBS has been all year. https://t.co/yTRmHNz1vW

Joe Burrow is doing to NFL defenses and defenders what he did to college teams when he was at LSU. Evades the rush. Throws on the move and makes the perfect pass. He just keeps making the ridiculously hard seem effortless.

The Bengals now lead 20-6 and start with the ball in the second half. This feels like it's over

Rule 7, Section 2 (m):
"when an official sounds his whistle erroneously while the ball is still in play, the ball becomes dead immediately ..."— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) January 15, 2022
The NFL isn't commenting on the #Bengals' controversial touchdown, deferring to NBC's rules expert Terry McAulay, who noted the call can't be fixed in replay.
Said McAulay: "They can't have a touchdown on that play, by rule."
A huge mistake by Jerome Boger's crew.— Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) January 15, 2022
Per @miketirico: the NFL will be issuing a statement after the game about the Bengals’ touchdown in which a whistle was blown but the scored stood.

Burrow's first TD pass of the game - to tight end C.J. Uzomah - came on the Bengals' opening drive.
The Bengals led 20-13 at the half.
