WATCH: Jonesboro Police officer rescues child from frozen pond

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — Police and firefighters in Jonesboro, Arkansas were called to an apartment complex to help save a child who had fallen into a frozen pond.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department, Officer Troy Ellison sprung into action when he arrived on the scene. He found the child, crawled onto the ice and pulled him to safety.

Ellison was assisted by Lt. Shon Morris and members of the Jonesboro Fire Department.

The child was taken to the hospital to be checked out for any cold weather injuries.

“Be mindful that no matter how cold the temperatures get this winter, playing on the ice is never safe. Luckily, this call had a very happy ending,” JPD said on Facebook.
