The Justyn Ross hype train in Kansas City has a new conductor — Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.

The team kicked off OTAs on Wednesday, with the first of 10 practice sessions. With 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills, we’re going to be seeing a lot more work that looks closer to what we see transpire on the gridiron on Sunday.

There has been a lot of early hype building for undrafted free agent receiver Justyn Ross. The former Clemson standout is fully healthy and cleared for action in Kansas City. The team hasn’t been shy about stoking the flames either because Ross has been a standout early on after joining the team as an undrafted free agent.

On Wednesday, that trend continued. The Chiefs shared a video from OTA practice with Ross making an insane one-handed grab by the sidelines. Check it out:

The catch wasn’t even the craziest part about this whole ordeal according to Ross’ new quarterback. Mahomes said that Ross acted as if the catch he made was no big deal, he just lined up waiting for the next one.

It’s still very early, but the excitement about the pairing of Mahomes with Ross is growing by the day. This just shows that they’re already building good chemistry on and off the field — chemistry that could pay dividends down the line.
