Sheriff: Crumbleys hid in art studio in Detroit before arrest; person may have helped them

Jennifer and James Crumbley hid in an art studio in Detroit before police apprehended them early Saturday morning, Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said on Saturday afternoon during a news conference.
Bouchard said that his office had reason to believe the Crumbleys had help in hiding from authorities. If someone assisted them, they could face charges of aiding and abetting the couple, Bouchard said. Determining whether charges will be made is up to prosecutors.

"We believe they were assisted in that location to get in there to get in," Bouchard said.
James and Jennifer Crumbley are separated in police custody, Bouchard said, and will not have access to their son, 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley, the teen charged with killing four Oxford High School students and wounding seven others, including a teacher.
Bouchard also answered questions still lingering around Oxford High School's intervention in Crumbley's behavior before the shooting. He said the office is investigating every component of the shooting.
"I wouldn't say a school official is under any investigations specifically," he said.
The Crumbleys were arrested early Saturday morning in Detroit. Authorities had been searching for them most of Friday after they were charged with four counts each of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting deaths at the high school. They did not show for their arraignment Friday and a reward was offered for information leading to their arrest. They are accused of allowing their son easy access to the gun that was used in the shootings.

A bond was set at $500,000.
Involuntary manslaughter is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
