The funeral for a local father is happening Tuesday.

A service for Eiffel Gilyana is happening at the St. Ephrem Syriac Catholic Church on Kernan Boulevard.

He died while canoeing off Vilano Beach last week.

The funeral starts at 11 a.m.

His family and friends told Action News Jax he is being remembered for a life of helping others.

Gilyana was the brother of an Action News Jax photographer.
