Watch live: GOP presidential candidate Francis Suarez talks at Iowa State Fair

2024 GOP presidential hopeful and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is speaking Friday one-on-one at the Iowa State Fair with Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) as part of her “Fair-Side Chats” series featuring multiple Republican candidates.

Suarez announced earlier this week on X, the platform formerly called Twitter, that he had met one of the requirements for participating in the first GOP debate Aug. 23, garnering donations from 40,000 individuals.

But Suarez still needs to show significantly higher poll numbers than he’s been getting to qualify. He needs at least 1 percent in three national polls, or 1 percent in two national polls and two state polls.

As of Thursday, Suarez had inched up from a polling average of 0.1 percent to 0.2 percent.

Suarez is scheduled to appear at 11:30 a.m. EDT.
