Join us live at 7 p.m. on Tuesday for a town hall featuring the Democratic candidates for mayor.

The candidates will answer questions from voters at the IndyStar building in front of a live audience, and IndyStar will stream the event here, as well as on our Facebook and YouTube pages.

"I’m excited because this is what the press is supposed to do," IndyStar Public Engagement Editor and debate moderator Oseye Boyd wrote in her column about the debate.

"Democracy requires work. The press has a role to play in that work. It’s our job to help people stay informed and knowledgeable about what their government is doing and who is running for elected office."

Boyd: I've changed my views on news; town halls for mayor of Indianapolis are evidence.

Democratic candidates for mayor

The Democratic mayoral candidates are incumbent Mayor Joe Hogsett, state Rep. Robin Shackleford, community activist Clif MarsiglioBob Kern and Larry Vaughn.

Hogsett, Shackleford, Marsiglio and Vaughn have all confirmed attendance. So far, this is the only town hall event prior to the election Hogsett will be attending, a campaign spokesperson told IndyStar.

The Republican Town Hall will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday on all the same platforms.
