Funeral services for longtime El Paso police Chief Greg Allen will be held Friday.

The service with full police honors will start at 11 a.m. at Abundant Living Faith Center, 1000 Valley Crest Drive. Doors will open at 10 a.m.

The memorial service Thursday evening at the convention center in Downtown El Paso was attended by what city staff estimated was 1,500 people. Speakers included Mayor Oscar Leeser and City Manager Tommy Gonzalez.

Allen was El Paso's first Black police chief and the city's longest serving chief, being at the helm for nearly 15 when he died unexpectedly on Jan. 17. He was 71.
