Watch live: Wind-fueled wildfires rip through neighborhoods near Boulder
Thousands of people were asked to flee their homes Thursday as several wind-driven wildfires burned near Superior and Louisville, blanketing the area in smoke and setting vehicles and buildings on fire.
The National Weather Service called it a "life-threatening" situation, as one gust of 110 mph was reported in the region. Colorado Gov. Jared Polis declared a state of emergency Thursday afternoon to allow the state to access emergency funds and services.

As of the 5 p.m. update, more than 500 homes, a Target and a hotel had been destroyed as the fires had burned more than 1,600 acres, according to Boulder County Sheriff Joe

Donations and other information
The Boulder Office of Emergency Management tweeted asking folks not to call in about donations so they can keep the lines clear. But you can learn how to donate and help here
The Denver Office of Emergency Management tweeted a reminder to residents that all garage doors have a manual override, if you need to evacuate and your power is out.
