The Miami Hurricanes men's basketball team has advanced farther than they ever have in the NCAA Tournament.
Now the 'Canes are one step away from their first Final Four.
Miami (26-10), which finished fourth in the ACC this season, became the last team to punch its ticket to the Elite Eight. The No. 10-seeded Hurricanes beat No. 11 Iowa State 70-56 on Friday in Chicago. Next up: No. 1 Kansas on Sunday for the Midwest Region's spot in the Final Four in New Orleans.
The Hurricanes are used to upset wins. They started their March Madness run by beating No. 7 Southern Cal 68-66, then stunned No. 2 Auburn 79-61. Miami's troika of guards — third-year sophomore Isaiah Wong and sixth-year seniors Kameron McGusty and Charlie Moore — have led the way throughout the tournament.
But this may be the toughest one of all. Kansas (31-6) was able to hold off a furious comeback in its Sweet 16 game against No. 4 Providence, finally winning 66-61. Remy Martin came off the bench and scored 23 for the Jayhawks, while Jalen Wilson added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Martin has been the lightning rod on offense for Kansas in the tournament, having led the Jayhawks in scoring in each game so far.
