How to Watch the MTV Movie & TV Awards

The MTV Movie & TV Awards are back. This year’s ceremony, hosted by comedian Leslie Jones, will air on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET and take place at the Hollywood Palladium for the very first time.

MTV award shows are known for outrageous moments so tuning in live is the way to go. Those with cable can watch via MTV or the MTV app. The ceremony can also be viewed on YouTube TV and Hulu Live. The MTV app will make the ceremony available for non-cable subscribers once it concludes in real time.

Last year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards were canceled as a result of the pandemic. The network aired the “MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time” special in December 2020 in its place. To make up for lost time, the award show will take place over the course of two days. After the ceremony on Sunday, the first-ever Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted will be broadcast on Monday. It will be available to watch via the same platforms as the standard event. No stranger to the shock of unscripted TV, comedian Nikki Glaser is set to host the show, honoring the best in reality television.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards will present this year’s generation award — given to an actor whose contributions to both film and TV have turned them into a household name — to Scarlett Johansson, a six-time nominee who won her first popcorn bucket trophy in 2013 for best fight in “The Avengers.” The award is among several honorary prizes distributed throughout the evening. Sacha Baron Cohen will receive the comedic genius award for his role in the Academy Award-nominated “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.” The 25 other categories are fan-voted, which closed on April 30.
