Watch 'Get to the Point,' a show best described as 'How you wish we talked about politics'

All “hotboxed in” jokes aside, the debate about legalizing medicinal and recreational marijuana in Wisconsin with all of our neighbors now allowing it in some form is a serious question with implications for managing chronic pain and state revenue, as well as disconcerting implications for how it squares with the state’s deadly drug epidemic.

Those points are all discussed in the latest episode of “Get to the Point,” a new Ideas Lab show featuring contributors Brian Reisinger and Kristin Brey. I’ve honestly thought about changing the name of the show to “How you wish we talked about politics,” because you rarely hear conversations like this today, thoughtful, pointed, civil and, dare I say, fun.

Brey and Reisinger also discuss the lack of a clear Republican forerunner to challenge U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wisconsin, who is up for reelection next year, with Mike Gallagher, a Republican who represents the state's 8th Congressional District, declining to enter the race.

Reisinger, a veteran of several GOP campaigns, said that isn’t necessarily a bad omen for the party. He notes the difference between candidates announcing versus organizing for a race. Listen-in to hear Kristin, who hosts the “As Goes Wisconsin” show on a Progressive radio network, responds.

Finally, Reisinger, a self-described Wisconsin farm boy who splits his time between the Badger State and California, answers an uncomfortable question about which state has the happiest cows. You can watch the show on our website or on the Journal Sentinel’s You Tube channel.
