Watch: Police find mom, kids, gun and drugs in car

WESTLAKE, Ohio (WJW) — A video released to the Fox 8 I-Team shows the moment police find a gun, a big stash of drugs and kids in a car.

Westlake Police said they made a traffic stop and found a mother driving a car with hundreds of pills, a stolen gun, kids and a guy from Las Vegas inside.

Police said they stopped a car for traffic violations Wednesday, just after the driver left a hotel in Westlake.

During that traffic stop, police said they found six people inside the car including a 6-year-old child, teens, the mother of two of the kids, plus the man from out of state.

Police said they found hundreds of pills believed to be fentanyl. Investigators also noted some of the pills were in a vacuum-sealed bag which indicated drug trafficking.

Additionally, officers discovered the gun they found in the car had been stolen out of Las Vegas.

Police body camera video shows officers saying to one suspect, “What do you have in there?” And, “We’re gonna find it. All you gotta do is talk. I know there’s something in there so…”

Local firefighters warn that these items can ‘self-combust’

Later, investigators said they searched a hotel room and found psychedelic mushrooms.

Rocky River Judge Joseph Burke ordered the man from Las Vegas held in jail on a $1 million bond. He faces charges associated with drugs drugs and the weapon.

Police said the woman told them she was from Ohio, but had moved to Las Vegas. She faces charges for drugs and child endangering.

Police released the kids to relatives.

The case next will likely be taken up by a Cuyahoga County grand jury.
