Watch Rapper Jack Harlow Debut an Unreleased Song, 'Nothin to a Boss'

From Esquire

Last time we talked to rapper Jack Harlow (you might know “WHATS POPPIN”), it was a pretty memorable conversation—we learned that the Louisville-born artist is an admirer of ZaZa, the five-year-old “queen from Kentucky.”

So, since we started a new video series, “Unreleased”—where we ask musicians to show us their never-before-heard tracks—we figured we’d call up Harlow and see if he had any dark-horse hits collecting megabytes on his computer. Turns out he did, and it’s more than worth the listen. The rapper calls it “Nothin to a Boss,” and it was produced by 2forwOyNE.

“He probably came into the room, and I laid this down right in front of him,” Harlow said. “He went in there right after and really killed it.”

“Nothin to a Boss” sounds right up Harlow’s alley, with some West Coast-sounding beats, mixed with his signature sense of humor in the lyrics. Thankfully, Harlow’s a fan of the song—and we might just still see it out there in the open someday.

“It just kinda sat. Sometimes records just get lost and sit, and maybe don’t match up with what you wanna drop,” he said. “But I listened to it just now and it sounds so hot. Oh my god, why ain’t that song out?”

While you’re down the secret-songs rabbit hole, might as well watch “Renegade” rapper K CAMP debut an unreleased track, too, called "Catching Fire."
