WATCH: Red Sox fan amazingly catches Devers' shattered bat originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The best catch of the 2021 MLB postseason came during Game 5 of the ALCS between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros, though it wasn't made by a player.

A Red Sox fan made It onto the highlight reel by somehow snagging Rafael Devers' shattered bat as it flew into the stands. The fan's incredible grab may have prevented himself and/or other fans in the vicinity from being seriously hurt.

The fan, Matt Ferrera of Plymouth, didn't have time to panic as the broken bat flew in his direction.

“I just saw the bat coming and I was like ‘I got to grab that thing," he told Hannah Keyser of Yahoo Sports.

The Red Sox will need their defense to follow suit in a pivotal Game 5. The ALCS currently is tied at two games apiece.
