The Schmigadoon season two trailer is here — and it’s serving Schmicago.
In the trailer, Josh and Melissa have had enough of the monotony of real life and go out seeking Schmigadoon again. It’s the world they once stumbled upon while backpacking and in which everyone acts like they’re living in a musical — a classic 1940s or ’50s-style musical, to be exact.

While the pair does manage to make their way to a musical land, something has changed. Schmigadoon is now Schmicago and the once bright and cheerful world they once knew has transformed into something darker and edgier, in the style of later musicals from the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s like Chicago, Cabaret, and Hair.
There’s even a murder mystery this season that Josh finds himself quickly, and accidentally, pulled into. It’s going to be much harder to create a happy ending this time around, since this era of musicals kinda doesn’t do the whole happy ending thing.

Along with returning stars Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key, season two includes a bevy of gay faves who are bringing the camp, including returning stars Dove Cameron, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ariana DeBose, and Jane Krakowski, all as new characters. And making his debut this season is Tituss Burgess as “the narrator.”
One thing is certain: This is gonna be a gay old time.
