Watch: Sean McVay broke down plays live during Rams-Chargers game

Sean McVay thought about transitioning from coaching to broadcasting this offseason after getting pursued by Amazon, but he ultimately decided to return to the Rams. He said he never met with anyone from Amazon, so it didn’t advance very far, but it’s something he wants to get into at some point in the future.

There’s no doubt he would be great in the booth, either. During Saturday’s preseason game against the Chargers, McVay gave a preview of his analysis skills by joining the broadcast and breaking down plays live from the sideline as the game was going on.

He wasn’t calling the plays so he had fewer responsibilities than a regular-season game, which made it easier for him to share some insight as plays were happening. During the segment, he praised players such as Lance McCutcheon, Grant Haley and Keir Thomas, among others. He also liked the way A.J. Jackson played in the first half, and the performance from Bryce Perkins.
