You Can Watch the Solar Eclipse From the Best View in Antarctica on This Luxury Cruise Ship

Poseidon Expeditions, a polar cruise operating company, has announced a luxury 23-day long expedition cruise that's planned around giving you a front row seat to a total solar eclipse right over the ocean. The entire trip, leaving from Argentina, is planned precisely to give you the best view in the entire world of the eclipse happening on December 4, 2021.
During the trip, the goal is to get the ship into the perfect position to observe the total solar eclipse. To accomplish this, the captain will navigate the ship precisely onto the path of totality—the small area from which one can see the sun’s light become totally obscured by the moon—in the Scotia Sea at the exact time of the predicted eclipse.

"With the advantage of sophisticated charts and meteorological forecasts—and a little luck—we will gather on deck in the early morning of Friday, December 4 [2021], under hopefully clear skies, to observe a total eclipse of the Antarctic sun in the most pristine wilderness on Earth,” Nikolay Saveliev, president of Poseidon Expeditions, said in a press release.
Watching the total solar eclipse occur will be life-changing for passengers, yes, but that's not the only exciting part of the trip. You'll be visiting the remote Falkland Islands, where large colonies of penguins and albatross call home, to observe marine wildlife. The sandy beaches of the islands are also the territory of fur seals, elephant seals, and dolphins.
You'll also head to South Georgia, a scenic wilderness paradise with plenty of arctic wildlife milling around—including 100 million seabirds, 100,000 elephant seals, and three million fur seals. The waters around South Georgia are also home to an increasing number of whales that you'll be able to see during your trip.
The cruise will leave on November 20, 2021 and return on December 12, 2021. While that may seem like a long ways away, spots are already filling fast—there are only 114 of them all together—so you better book your solar eclipse expedition ASAP!
FYI, the trip doesn't come cheap. According to the website, the per person rates are from $16,556 (triple occupancy) and $21,866 (double occupancy).
