The Oklahoma State football team will face Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl at noon on Jan. 1 in Glendale, Ariz.

Oklahoma State recorded a 23-16 win against Missouri State to begin the 2021 college football season, and the Cowboys went on to win out their non-conference slate against Tulsa and Boise State.

The Cowboys opened Big 12 play with a 31-20 win against Kansas State Sept. 25. The next two weeks saw the Cowboys achieve big wins against Baylor 24-14, and Texas 32-24, with the win against the Longhorns insuring bowl eligibility for the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State dropped a 24-21 contest to Iowa State, the Cowboys' first loss of the season, on Oct. 23, but followed the loss with a 55-3 Homecoming thrashing of Kansas in Stillwater Oct. 30.

November saw Oklahoma State rack up Big 12 wins against West Virginia, TCU and Texas Tech, with the defense allowing less than seven points per game during that span.

November's -- and the season's -- biggest regular-season game for Oklahoma State came to Stillwater with the Oklahoma Sooners. Bedlam 2021 saw the Cowboys defeat the Sooners 37-33 to advance to the Big 12 title game against Baylor.

The Cowboys lost 21-16 to Baylor on Saturday in the Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, Texas.

Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State football vs Notre Dame

Notre Dame, the Fiesta Bowl opponent Oklahoma State will face, finished the 2021 NCAA college football regular season with an overall record of 11-1 record.

Notre Dame achieved notable wins against Florida State, Wisconsin, and North Carolina during 2021, becoming bowl eligible after a 31-16 win against USC on Oct. 24.
