The 2022 NFL season officially kicks off Thursday night at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton with the Pro Football Hall of Fame game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The preseason game marks the homecoming of Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels, who played his high school football games with Canton McKinley.

McDaniels played college football for John Carroll University, before serving as an offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots and a head coach for the Denver Broncos.

The game also marks the debut of Jacksonville head coach Doug Pederson, who replaced Urban Meyer, who was fired midway through last season.

The Jaguars have already said that quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne, who is coming off a Lisfranc injury and missed his entire 2021 rookie season, will not play. Jake Luton will get a start as backup quarterback C.J. Beathard is nursing a groin muscle injury.
