Jules Casey, who's a free diver, scuba expert, and award-winning photographer, frequently posts about her undersea adventures on her Instagram. On this occasion, she rescued the spider crab while diving at Blairgowrie Pier on Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne. She said the crab got tangled trying to remove a large fishing sinker, which is a weight attached to a fishing line above the hook.

“This crab had no chance of freeing itself," said Casey. "I set down my camera and got out my line cutter. Then removed all the fishing gear and set him free.”
