WATCH: Texans safety Justin Reid boots a 57-yard field goal

The Houston Texans pride themselves on tough, dependable, smart players who have position versatility.

Justin Reid proved after training camp practice he is that type of player.

The former 2018 third-round pick from Stanford posted a video to his Twitter Friday of what he called “a little post practice shenanigans.” Reid lined up for a 57-yard field goal and booted it off the tee through the uprights inside the practice bubble.

Even though it was off the tee and not with a holder, it was nonetheless an impressive boot from the longest-active Texans safety with 31 games with the franchise.

Reid has always been a big soccer fan. Therefore, it isn’t that big of a stretch to think the young leader in the Texans’ secondary would also have the leg to kick field goals.

When the Texans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9 last season in Wembley Stadium, Reid took in the emotions of playing in one of the most iconic soccer venues in the world.

“Like I tweeted earlier like I grew up playing soccer and always dreamed of playing in this stadium when I was a kid,” Reid told the NFL Network’s James Palmer after the win.

“You know it’s awesome I got to come out here, play a good game like I did help my team get a win,” said Reid. “And like I say this first one, maybe I get another one next time we step on the field.”

The Texans have a reliable kicker in Ka’imi Fairbairn, who kicked a game-winning field goal for Houston to lift them 22-19 over the Buffalo Bills in overtime of last season’s AFC wild-card at NRG Stadium. However, if the situation calls for it, the Texans can rest assured they have a big leg in the secondary they can use in Reid.
