Singing while under the weather, an “American Idol” contestant from Texas gave a performance Monday, April 18, judges felt she should be proud of.

Hannah Nicolaisen, from Houston, performed Pink’s “Glitter in the Air” during Idol’s show Monday from Kapolei, Hawaii.

She admitted after her performance she has “been very sick,” and judge Lionel Richie commended her for giving it her all.

“Way to fight through it,” he told Nicolaisen.

Fellow judge Katy Perry said Nicolaisen chose the “right song” and “did it justice.”

Idol judge Luke Bryan commented on Nicolaisen’s growth as a performer, saying she has come a long way since her initial audition.

“I don’t know if anybody has shown more growth,” Bryan said of Nicolaisen. “So to come out here, look the part, sing the part, battle through being a little under the weather, you should be very proud of it.”

Nicolaisen will find out if she has made the show’s top 20 on Sunday, April 23.

A former volleyball player at University of Illinois-Springfield and Cowley College in Kansas, Nicolaisen advanced to the top 26 with her performance of Gavin DeGraw’s “I Don’t Want to Be.”

“This was the most the most beautiful stage and the most amazing moment!” she said on Instagram after Monday’s show. “I am so amazed by this journey and opportunity!!”
