A singer from Texas who has tried for years to make it in the music industry got a big break with a coveted 4-chair turn on “The Voice.”

Rudi, from San Antonio, told the show’s coaches she recently moved back home to work at her dad’s auto shop when she wasn’t making enough money as a singer.

But her luck took an improved turn during her blind audition on “The Voice,” which aired Monday, Oct. 2.

She performed Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me,” with Gwen Stefani being the first coach to turn their chair. Eventually, all four coaches swiveled their chairs for Rudi, but John Legend was blocked by Niall Horan.

Horan may have blocked the wrong coach, as Rudi revealed she is a “huge fan” of Stefani, the former No Doubt frontwoman.

The feelings were reciprocal.

“It’s really amazing you’re someone who is so in control... You really know how to work the stage, you’ve got style, you’re gorgeous,” Stefani told Rudi.

Stefani had competition, however, as both Reba McEntire and Horan pleaded for Rudi to join their respective teams.

“I was very impressed with your performance,” McEntire said. “When I was looking the other way, you really convinced me that you meant that. You’re very persuasive when you’re singing. ... You touched my heart. That’s a true gift, and you have it.”

“You already look like a little star,” Horan later told Rudi. “You’re going to go all the way in my eyes.”

Rudi went on to choose Stefani and became a member of Team Gwen. Stefani described Rudi as “a full package deal.”

Some people may remember Rudi from “Bachelor, Listen to Your Heat,” a spinoff series of “The Bachelor” that aired in 2020. She formed a relationship with Matt Ranaudo, but he reportedly left the dating-singing competition series before the finale.
