It had been a long time since the Dallas Cowboys ripped off a really long rushing touchdown.
So long you probably don’t remember it.
Tony Pollard took a toss sweep around the left side for a 58-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter Thursday night to give the Cowboys a 20-10 lead over the New Orleans Saints at the Caesars Superdome.

It’s the longest touchdown run by the Cowboys since Ezekiel Elliott’s 60-yard rushing score in Week 5 of his 2016 rookie season. It’s the Cowboys’ longest run since Alfred Morris gained 70 yards against the Rams in 2017. Morris, however, did not score.
It’s Pollard’s fourth career rushing score of at least 40 yards. It’s the third-most in Cowboys history behind Hall of Famers Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith, both of which had seven, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Pollard scored on a 100-yard kickoff return last week in the overtime loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Tony Pollard's 58-yard touchdown run was the longest of his career and the longest rush by a Cowboy since Alfred Morris’ 70-yard run against the LA Rams in 2017 (10/1).
