When I think of barn finds, I picture old muscle cars or imports from the Fifties, Sixties, and Seventies. What I don't think of are Japanese sports cars from the Nineties. But as the times change, barn finds do too. This 1994 Mazda RX-7 has been sitting untouched in a garage for 23 years and now, it's finally getting the love it deserves.

This video, courtesy of WD Detailing on YouTube, documents the journey of this FD-generation RX-7 from when it's pulled out of its resting place to the detailing shop's facility. According to the intro, this car was purchased by its current owner new in 1995 and driven just over 8800 miles. One day the owner apparently drove the car up to 140 mph, got scared of it, and parked it for good. So it's been sitting ever since.

Like all good detailing videos, no stone is left unturned in this RX-7's cosmetic restoration. After a painstakingly detailed exterior wash, the channel takes out a good deal of the interior to clean out every nook and cranny. In addition to all of the dust, they discover several rats' nests and carcasses. Gross.

By the end of the video, the RX-7 looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. The only remaining flaws are the rusted brake rotors, which will need to be replaced. And while this car might look clean, it still needs a full mechanical restoration to actually get back on the road. Hopefully it gets to a shop sooner rather than later.
