On Tuesday night, Washington looks to turn the page when they welcome another cup-contending team, the Colorado Avalanche. Colorado is also coming off a 5-3 loss to the St. Louis Blues, so both teams want to get back into the win column.

Here's everything you need to know before puck drop.

CAPITALS VS. AVALANCHE WHAT TO WATCH

Nathan Mackinnon has yet to play this season following a positive COVID-19 test. The forward has missed games against the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues. Colorado head coach Jared Bednar has stated that Mackinnon won't be traveling as he continues to test positive, so it seems likely he'll miss the game against the Capitals.

With Nicklas Backstrom out and no timetable yet for his return, Evgeny Kuznetsov has taken over the assisting duties on the team. The 29-year-old has three assists through two games.

CAPITALS VS. AVALANCHE PLAYERS TO WATCH

Alex Ovechkin: Ovechkin is now setting his eyes on Brett Hull. The Capitals winger sits at 733 goals and needs eight more to reach 741 and has already scored three goals in his first two games.

Nazem Kadri: With no Mackinnon, the Avalanche needed to step up and fill the shoes, and Kadri has provided four points in two games for Colorado. If the Avs star is out for a third game, Kadri will again try to fill in for the absence of Mackinnon.
